How We Cleaned One Community In A Few Hours
By Priya Sharma

On a sunny Saturday morning, over 50 students from The Green Zones and local community gathered at Model High School with a mission: restore cleanliness.
Armed with gloves, bags, and determination, we divided into teams and covered nearly 2 km area. By afternoon, we had collected a large quantity of plastic waste, mostly single-use bottles, packaging, and sachets.
What we found
The most common items were plastic water bottles (42%), food wrappers (28%), and styrofoam fragments (15%). Many of these items had been there for years, slowly breaking into microplastics.
What’s next?
We’re now working with local shop owners to set up a bottle return system, and planning monthly clean-up drives. Want to join the next one? Sign up for our volunteer program.
